Joseph Chen - Alphabet Technical Accounting
Joseph Chen (CPA) is on the Alphabet Technical Accounting group which consults and advises on the financial impact of business transactions on Alphabet, stays abreast of new accounting developments and guidance, and maintains updated accounting policies.
Joseph has a combined 12 years of accounting experience in both industry and public accounting. He received a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley.
Danielle Fontaine - Alphabet Corporate Accounting
Danielle Fontaine is a Senior Manager in Alphabet’s Technical Accounting team. Danielle is currently on assignment with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) as an Industry Fellow.
At the FASB, Danielle has been involved in standard-setting projects related to income tax simplifications, income tax disclosures, segment reporting, financial performance reporting, and disclosure referrals from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Before embarking on the fellowship, Danielle supported technical accounting consultations on income tax accounting, loss contingencies, and expense classifications. She also led the Controllership organization’s involvement in standard setting by monitoring FASB’s technical agenda and drafting comment letters as well as supporting various leaders’ representation on the Emerging Issues Task Force, the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, Financial Executives International’s Committee on Corporate Reporting, and the Institute of Management Accountants’ Financial Reporting Committee.
Prior to joining Google in 2017, Danielle spent many years at Gap, Inc. in San Francisco in a variety of accounting and reporting roles, including technical accounting, corporate accounting, accounting policies, SEC reporting, and international operations, with progressive responsibilities. Danielle started her career in the Bay Area with Ernst & Young performing audits of public and private companies primarily in the technology and pharmaceutical industries.
Danielle earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree (2004) and a Master of Business Administration degree (2011) from Santa Clara University. She is also a certified public accountant in California.
