The Fraud Trifecta: The Multiple Frauds of Crazy Eddie
Webinar Highlights

During the 1980’s, television sets in the Tri-State area of New York-New Jersey-Connecticut were blanketed with frenetic commercials proclaiming that the prices at electronics chain Crazy Eddie were “insane.” Behind the now iconic commercials was a vast web of deception and greed that took Crazy Eddie from a single store in Brooklyn, New York City to a $300 million firm traded on the NASDAQ.
This webcast will provide an overview of the 3 phases of fraud at Crazy Eddie:
- The cash-skimming and tax evasion prior to the decision to take the company public.
- The un-winding of the cash skimming efforts after the decision to go public.
- The multi-faceted efforts to manipulate the stock prices of Crazy Eddie. including inventory falsification, fake credit memos, and manipulation of service contracts.
This webinar will use the fraud triangle to examine the fraud from the points of view of several participants and discuss the red flags that accountants, financial analysts, and investors missed prior to the fraud being discovered.
