Giving a PowerPoint presentation is always a daunting experience, but a PowerPoint presentation with extensive numbers content poses its own special set of challenges – a set of challenges rarely addressed by conventional presentation training programs.  This course identifies the problems and issues specifically related to presenting quantitative information in PowerPoint, teaches how to determine the optimum numbers content of each slide and how to present that content, and suggests slide design tactics and presenter behaviors that will make the numbers understandable and meaningful to the audience.

Learning Objectives
  • Determine how much numerical information to put on a PowerPoint slide without endangering audience comprehension
  • Make intelligent choices about when to present numbers graphically rather than in tables
  • Ensure the words on your slide, artwork, and animation can work together with your numbers to make your most important points stand out
  • Ensure your pre-presentation preparation and your demeanor while presenting affect the credibility of your information

Great refresher to remind everyone that just because your PowerPoint is chock full of data, it does not mean that the audience got the things that you wanted them to see in the data. Presenters need to make sure they know their audience and what are the most effective ways to get the point across to them.

Actually quite gripping! I've done a lot of public speaking, gotten training, etc, but there are quite a few nuggets of wisdom and technical details in here that I've never heard before. I'm quite impressed by this; it's a must-take for anyone who is prepping a board package!

I don't give presentations all that often, but identified several things to easily improve on from this course. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely good tips that I would have otherwise had to learn on my own from experience.

I liked the way the instructor engages and asks you to pause the video and look at/think about different options. I also hadn't given much thought to header options before, this was helpful and I'll put that tip to use.

Good enough content - covers the brief highlights on making a numbers-filed presentation work. Suggestion to presenter - delve deeper into advanced techniques for charts rather than just writing most of it off.

I liked that he gave specific rules and guidelines to making a PowerPoint. I think there is more I could learn in this department. The best tool I will take away from this webinar is the 8H Rule.

At first I thought this was going to be a very dry presentation, but it flowed well and gave a lot of practical tips and reminders in a short amount of time. The examples were effective.

The most interesting part of the course was the 8H rule. I had hoped the course would include features/functionality of PP; however, the information presented was very basic.

OK summary but could be updated for any trends or new rules given we are 8 years further into technology and general tech knowledge that has expanded during this time.

A good reminder to make the best use of limited space and time by creating concise presentation slides that provide the key information your audience needs to know.

Some good points on use of tables and graphs. I think the tables are are a bit too crowded in his examples, making it hard to read even in the shortened tables
