In this course we develop the capability of the L&D professional to contribute to the formation of people resource responses to the organization context.  We start with a brief overview of the internal and external environment exploring key environmental trends and how to use that information to develop an understanding of the L&D needs of the workforce.

This leads to a conversation about the theory and practice of Learning and Development and its relationship to strategic responses to the market and competitive environment.  Then we explore how to use this information and knowledge effectively to make decisions in response to context.  

This course serves to enable the L&D practitioner to increase credibility and influence at senior levels in the organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Explore the managerial and business environment in which contemporary organizations operate within which the L&D practitioner works.
  • Identify the theory and practice of L&D and how organizational leaders and the L&D function can use these to respond appropriately to the market and competitive environment.
  • Discover how organizational L&D strategies are shaped and developed in response to internal and external factors.

I had to take this course on mute as I had a lot of difficulty understanding the information. It worked better for me to read the slides and understand what she was talking about versus listening to the lecture.
