In this course we discuss the key elements (company, processes and systems, and FP&A team) that help you develop a plan for moving your FP&A organization forward.

The first case study walks us through the thinking behind creating an FP&A function from the ground up, using the above elements in the internal and external contexts unique to a company.  The second case study presents an approach to building a roadmap for an existing FP&A team to move it and the company towards world class capability.  Finally, we discuss several practical considerations regarding change management and the way forward for your plan for FP&A.

Learning Objectives
  • Identify the three key criteria used to create an organizational plan for the FP&A function.
  • Define the two critical elements in an organizational plan for FP&A that provides the guiding principles for a multi-year plan.
  • Discover how to overcome organizational resistance to changes that a plan for changing the FP&A function may require to be successful.

Some weird audio issues where the presenter would repeat the same idea/concept multiple times as if he were doing "takes" but never edited them out. Otherwise, a decent overview course. Would have like to see more meat here though. <div class="italic orange margin-top-20">We have edited the course videos to correct the audio issue. Content was strong but I found the volume of information on the slides distracting. I would have liked the presentation to be longer to get at some of that information even more or else keep it higher level for the same 1 hour and have the detailed slides available as an appendix to the presentation.

The 2 case studies were particularly helpful (building a new FP&A function and moving an existing one towards world class). Regardless of the stage of your FP&A organization, there were take aways from both case studies that can be applied to any organization.

This is a well-structured and logical approach to setting an optimal structure, objectives and responsibilities for a FP&A function. The methodology and principles are fairly standard in terms of they could apply to companies in a variety of industries.

The video's visibility was out of focus, the material got a little off topic, I was expecting more detail on how to build an FP&A org, I felt like the material presented got a little off topic

Great overview of the strategic planning process and linkages throughout the planning and budgeting processes. Too much detail on each page. Fonts were too small and hard to read.

Good session - it would've been helpful to include how the FP&A function varies by company/department size.
