According to the SHRM Website., the SHRM-SCP℠ credential "makes you a recognized expert and leader in the HR field—and a valuable asset to your organization, keeping you and your organization more competitive in today's economy. This professional distinction sets you apart from your colleagues, proving your high level of knowledge and skills."

The SHRM-SCP℠ certification is valid for three years after testing, ending on the last day of the credential holder’s birth month. The only way to avoid re-taking the exam is by accumulating 60 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) of continuing education activities. Approved courses cover material that relate to the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge.
