Description

Just one decade ago, the term “sustainability” had little impact on US businesses or nonprofits. Today, there are sustainability reports, scorecards, investors are paying a premium for companies that have strong sustainability records, and nonprofits devoted to sustainability are exploding in number.  The term “sustainability” has also evolved to include financial sustainability, environmental sustainability, ethics, and human capital development as cornerstones of the sustainability movement.

Companies today not only measure their own carbon footprint, they measure their suppliers’ carbon footprint and select suppliers who have a low carbon footprint, have good labor practices, are safe places to work, and all of these new standards by which we measure a company in terms of “sustainability,” require a new phenomenon – transparency.

Organizations can no longer ignore the sustainability movement because customers are becoming knowledgeable about a company’s environmental and labor records, how well they treat their customers and their employees, and how they contribute to the well being of the communities in which they operate.  More and more, whether a company will be granted a permit to build, or will be granted a “social license” to start or continue to operate, will depend on how a company can build its sustainability record.  This course shows you how to build a true sustainability record that you can defend and use it as a competitive advantage whether you are a large or small for profit company, nonprofit, governmental agency, educational institution, or even work as a sole proprietor.
