While finding a sum of values is a relatively straightforward task, it might also be useful to know how to sum only the values that satisfy a particular criterion. For example, if you work with daily rainfall data in your region, you might be interested to see how many inches of rain your region had on weekends during the past year. In this case, you will need to sum only the rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.

This session looks at how to use the SUMIF function to sum only the values that satisfy a particular criterion.

After completing this session, you will be able to set up a criterion in the SUMIF function and apply this function to a range of cells with numeric values.
