Strategic planning is evolving as the business, nonprofit, social, and regulatory environments change at a faster and faster pace.  The days of 10-year strategic plans are fading except for the largest organizations in the most stable environments, and their numbers are dwindling.

Today, strategic plans must be interactive and changeable when external conditions change in ways we did not expect.  This course explores the new fundamentals of strategic planning with an emphasis on making excellent forecasts about the future your organization will face.

This course also explains how you can create “emergent” plans that are not detailed, but have a consistent theme that will guide your organization through even turbulent times.  In addition, this course shows you how to plan to create a plan and how to create a management information system that will tell you how well or how poorly the plan is being implemented, and whether it is achieving the desired results.
