Description

In the 1990s and early 2000s, WorldCom was one of the best places to work in Central Mississippi. The Fortune 50 company’s 400,000-square-foot state-of-the-art headquarters in Clinton Mississippi was designed to be a showplace.

By 2003, WorldCom became known for one of the largest corporate frauds in history. While orchestrated by CEO Bernie Ebbers and CFO Scott Sullivan, the fraud was carried out by members of the accounting department.  While Ebbers, Sullivan, and other executives benefited financially from the fraud, the accounting personnel did not. As a result, several members of the accounting department spent time in prison for preparing fraudulent financial statements.

Unfortunately, this situation is not an isolated once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. This webcast will offer general guidance on how to avoid situations that could leave participants wondering, “How did this happen to me?”
