About this course: One of the toughest challenges leaders face are having difficult conversations with staff. Difficult conversations are inevitable because often people perceive themselves differently to how others do. For example you may intend to give what you feel is constructive feedback but the person takes it the wrong way as they have misunderstood your intent. This is the reason why some people choose to avoid difficult conversations because they are afraid of being misunderstood.
If you are a leader, you must be equipped with the knowledge to avoid misunderstandings. Do not let difficult conversations hinder the success of your team. To best prepare for these situations a good tip is to set an early precedent with all of your team to encourage people to express their views openly and honestly. Especially scenarios when you have more control over what’s happening. If your views are challenged you should then be able to manage this.
Once the session is completed, you will have an understanding of techniques to use during difficult conversations, establish best practices for effective conversation and practice tips to avoid misunderstandings.

- You must pass this exam to receive continuing education credits.
- You would need to retake the course before attempting the qualified assessment again.
- To redo the course after passing, you would need to reset the course.
- You won’t be awarded additional CPE if you re-take the qualified assessment after passing once.
- Please fill in and submit the survey after passing final exam to get CPE and Certificate of Completion.
