Jenny Norton, CPA, is an accounting professional with over 20 years of progressive experience at organizations both large and small across a spectrum of industries in both the public and private sector. She began her career in her home state of New York at "Big Blue" (otherwise known as IBM) managing 1099-MISC compliance but soon migrated into the dynamic world of public accounting at Ernst & Young. While at EY, Jenny became proficient in U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and internal control documentation, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and developed advanced project management skills. After five years in EY's core assurance practice, serving clients in the manufacturing, healthcare and energy industries, Jenny took yet another strategic leap to the world of corporate accounting at J-POWER USA, a middle-market private asset management company based in Schaumburg, IL which develops, owns and operates wholesale power generation plants throughout the United States. In her role at J-POWER, Jenny developed specializations in the financial statement close process, financial reporting, researching and interpreting U.S. GAAP standards, contract interpretation and compliance, financial budgeting, forecasting and analysis, and cash management. After nearly nine years at J-POWER, Jenny accepted a position at TouchTunes Music Corporation to become the Director of Accounting Operations heading up the new Shared Services division, a centralization of accounting and other corporate functions for the combined Octave Group, parent company to TouchTunes and the then newly acquired PlayNetwork, Inc. After three years in this role, Jenny pivoted into the freelance realm and now serves as Financial Controller for multiple start-up organizations.

Along this professional career path, Jenny's passion for teaching and mentoring has always been present. Her teaching experience began during her years as an undergraduate accounting student at Ithaca College with positions as a teaching assistant and accounting tutor, and periodically emerged in her supervisory roles at EY, J-POWER and now Octave Group, but wasn't truly able to flourish until she became a CPA instructor with Becker Professional Education in 2008. Through her role with Becker and now also with Illumeo, Jenny has been able to achieve her dream of giving back to the business world and the accounting profession through education.
